SPORTS MINISTRY LEADERS

The Role of a Sports Ministry Leader

Gateway Sports is praying for coaches who desire to share the love of Jesus Christ through sports ministry leadership with athletes and their families in our community. Sports provide a powerful platform to influence young lives, and as a Sports Ministry Leader, you partner in Kingdom work—investing in athletes spiritually, emotionally, and physically while advancing Christ’s mission.

What is a Sports Ministry Leader?

A Sports Ministry Leader, you are more than a coach—you are a spiritual leader, role model, and mentor. Through sports, you will help shape character, teach biblical truth, and point young athletes toward Christ.

Must lead a life reflecting a relationship with Jesus Christ

Model Christlike character on and off the field/court.

Lead team in prayer and/or devotions at practices and games on a weekly basis.

Abide by all league rules and ministry guidelines.

Develop each athlete’s skills while emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship, while learning fundamentals of the game.

Use athletics as a tool to teach life lessons and biblical truth through provided devotionals and ministry materials.

Attend all required coaches’ meetings, practices, and games.

Sports provide a powerful opportunity to influence young lives. By serving as a Sports Ministry Servant Leader, you are partnering in a Kingdom work—investing in athletes spiritually, emotionally, and physically while advancing the mission of Christ.
